Gone to the Beach Villa is located in the charming and historic town of Scarborough in the Western Cape of South Africa. Roughly an hour’s drive from Cape Town, it’s the ideal spot to explore the region’s many attractions – without all the hustle and bustle of the main tourist spots!

We offer the perfect blend of a quiet and relaxed ‘home away from home’ environment, while remaining close enough to the action of the vibey inner city! Scarborough itself has been a designated conservation village since 1996, and has a population of just over 1,000 people. If you’re looking for a peaceful place to unwind, then our guesthouse in Scarborough is it!

Simon’s Town and the ever-popular Boulder’s Beach are a 20 minute drive away, and Stellenbosch is about 1 hour and 20 minutes. Best of all though, the Villa is just 20 meters from the beach and the Atlantic Ocean!

Gone to the Beach can accommodate up to 8 guests. The Villa consists of three main sleeping areas – the Main Suite, Boat Suite and Children’s Bedroom – each of which has its own bathroom. This makes it the ideal size for large families, or groups of friends traveling with their little ones.

With plenty of entertainment and living areas, a generous kitchen, pool and braai area, there’s ample room for all. There is also an additional, fully enclosed outdoor shower, so there will never be queues for the bathroom!

Unlike the rest of South Africa, the Western Cape has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers, and cooler, wetter winters. For this reason, most of Cape Town’s visitors arrive in the summer months between December and March. If you’re planning on hitting the beaches, then this is the time to give us a visit!

Of course, the Cape remains a popular holiday destination all year round, especially with those who want to avoid the big crowds. We’re sure you’ll be pleased to hear that our self catering guesthouse comes complete with a stunning indoor fireplace to keep you cosy and warm, whatever the weather chooses to do!

Thanks to its relaxed village vibe, Scarborough is a place where you can take things slow. Our guesthouse in Scarborough is the perfect spot to mingle with the interesting locals, hear their stories, and observe some of the local traditions. Surfing and kite surfing are popular activities, as are musselling and diving for crayfish. In fact, many of the locals head to the beach to catch their Christmas lunch!

Beyond the village borders, all the attractions of the Cape are within easy reach. View the famous whale migration in Hermanus between July and September, head into the city for exciting dining and vibrant night life, shop ‘til you drop at the stunning V&A Waterfront, or hit the world renowned wine routes.

Our self-catering guesthouse has been designed with families in mind, and we know how many people view their pets as part of the family too! As long as you let us know your pets will be joining you beforehand, we’re happy for them to stay.

Our garden and outdoor fun area – complete with table tennis table and dart board – gives children a chance to burn off any excess energy. A safety net for the plunge pool is also available upon request. The garden is fully fenced and enclosed, so you don’t need to worry about little paws or feet finding their way off the property!

If you’re looking for natural beauty and a chance to enjoy the outdoors, then our self catering guesthouse has it in spades! The village of Scarborough is right on the border of the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Unique endemic fynbos flora, and creatures such as Cape Mountain Zebra, eland and various antelope, ostriches, rock hyraxes, otters, mongoose, and over 250 species of bird are right on your doorstep.

The Scarborough Beach itself is well known for its beauty, and the area is ideal for short and long hikes and bike rides. A visit to see the famous African Penguins at Boulders Beach is also a must for nature lovers. Other marine wildlife you might catch sight of includes seals, dusky dolphins, humpback and Bryde’s whales, and even occasional orcas!

While our self-catering guesthouse boasts a state-of-the-art kitchen, we know there are times you’d much rather leave the cooking to someone else! Here again you’re in luck, as Scarborough has three great eateries within walking distance of the villa. Take your pick from Camel Rock Restaurant, The Hub, or the Whole Earth Café, which also stocks deliciously fresh organic produce and artisan breads.

Of course, Cape Town’s famously diverse restaurants and cultural attractions are also just a short drive away. Nearby, Fish Hoek and Simons Town also have a great selection of smaller restaurants, international cuisine, pubs, bars and beachside eateries.

Absolutely! All our guests are welcome to enjoy our speedy fibre Wi-Fi free of charge. We want our self catering guest house to give you the chance to unplug without feeling disconnected from the world back home!

We understand that staying in a quiet village might not fill your teen with enthusiasm, but prepare to be pleasantly surprised! Teens, older kids, and active adults can take advantage of great adventure activities like hiking and mountain biking, or trying their skills at surfing or kite surfing. The TV room includes DSTV, so they won’t miss out on their favourite shows. And if all else fails, the Long Beach Mall is just a short drive away, and features a great cinema. Further afield, Cape Town offers a virtually endless list of activities for all ages to choose from.

Our guesthouse in Scarborough offers loads of entertainment in the form of a TV lounge, outdoor games area, enclosed barbeque, and even a small library. The wood burning fireplace is perfect to huddle around with the family on cooler evenings. Complimentary Wi-Fi is included, and the kitchen features all the mod cons an aspiring chef could want.

An outdoor dining area, plunge pool, table tennis table and dartboard will entice the youngsters outside, and the outdoor shower is ideal for washing off sand and salty water after an ocean swim. Gone to the Beach also offers safe off-street parking.

Due to its close-knit community and conservation-minded ethos, Scarborough is not the kind of neighbourhood where loud music is appreciated! We ask our guests to please respect the locals and refrain from any disruptive behaviour. As our self catering guest house is located within such easy reach of the Cape Town nightlife, you won’t have any difficulty letting your hair down in a more appropriate setting.
