Scarborough, is one of the most beautiful of Cape Town’s suburbs. It is surrounded by the imposing mountains of Cape Town’s South Peninsula and boasts a breathtaking strip of white sandy beach fronting the blue and tempestuous Atlantic Ocean.

Renowned for excellent surfing, windsurfing, fishing and /or sunbathing on the beach, Scarborough’s peaceful village and conservation-minded atmosphere present a refreshing antidote to the nearby city bustle.

Scarborough is within easy travelling distance of all the Cape’s major attractions. The village is adjacent to Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Simon’s Town, with its many restaurants, fine swimming beaches and busy naval base is a 10min drive away. Close by is Boulders Beach, home to the African Penguin. The city centre, Waterfront and Table Mountain are a 45min drive from Scarborough.

Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve: Home of the famous Cape Point, the reserve boasts a variety of indigenous fauna and flora, beaches, hikes, windswept mountains and a funicular ride up to the lighthouse with panoramic views.

Simon’s Town: Historical naval town which, until the 1970s, was home to the Royal Navy’s South Atlantic Squadron.  Restored buildings housing boutique shops, galleries, museums and restaurants abound while the history of the area reveals itself in informative walks around the town.

Boulder’s Beach: World famous for its colony of African Jackass Penguins and gorgeous beaches which offer opportunities for swimming with and viewing these fascinating seabirds.

Things to Do in the Area

Ideal location for whale, dolphin and bird watching. Outdoor sporting enthusiasts are spoilt for choice: there is mountain biking, hiking, shark cage diving, fishing and golf (Clovelly and Simon’s Town). Runners can enjoy safe and scenic roads and trails around Scarborough.

Scarborough main beach is one of the finest surfing beaches in the Cape. The neighbouring beach at Misty Cliffs is a world-renowned spot for wind and kitesurfing.

A Safe Place for Children and Pets to Play

Scarborough is a sleepy eco-village where children are safe to ride their bikes up and down the streets and play outside. Children can build sandcastles and explore the tidal pools and more adventurous adults can take on the waves with their surfboards. With dogs welcome on the beach, Scarborough is the perfect place for a stroll (or more strenuous walk) with family and pets.

Local Shopping and Eateries

The Whole Earth Café, Camel Rock Restaurant and The Hub provide excellent, healthy dining within walking distance of our properties while other fine restaurants abound just a short drive from the village.

The Hub and the Whole Earth Café have excellent delis for organic produce, artisan breads, fresh vegetables and pastries.

Nearby shopping malls include Long Beach Mall in Sun Valley and Harbour Bay Mall. Here you will find abundance of supermarkets, clothing and other shopping opportunities. Simon’s Town and Kalk Bay offer high street shopping with boutique clothing, souvenirs and trendy eateries.
